Nicolerichie
Hot Damn how awesome is Nicole Richie. Everything about this: the shape of those glasses, the chrome sides, the blunt fringe, the leather jucket, the piled up cuffs, the rough-hewn gold of the rings. Hot. Damn.

So the last few days I've been a-wandering around and about the Thames. It's so damn England-y! I love it!

It's summer here, and it's green and calm and sweet. Around every corner, and carved into every seat is some bit of romance and mystery. I hope Peggy had a wonderful life.

There are flowers everywhere. Hanging in baskets, crowding the river, adorning the rooms.

I'm going to blame the flowers for my new-found, and totally unexpected crushing on whites and pastels in nail polish. Having white toe nails makes for very distracting walking. These are the first gladiator sandals I've ever bought. The trend has been in for years, and I've never once found a pair that I liked enough to bother forking over the money. But these, I liked.

As for my summer wind downs - well, membership at the local library, indulging in a lingering twilight and a glass of wine.

Seeing rows upon rows of houses and fences makes me so curious. How can we live so close to one another, and know nothing? Coming from a wee country town, we knew neighbours that lived over 2 kms away. In a city? You wouldn't know the person that lived 2 metres away from your fence. And London is a city of like 20 million people. Or something. Crazy.

Sweet Victoria

These shorts are the result of my first foray into London shopping, and the wonders of H&M, Topshop and Zara. Me oh my, it makes a nice change to find things that are stylish, fun, and affordable. I've wanted scalloped shorts ever since lusting after the Chloe ones from a while back. I'm not normally one for 'sweet' style dressing, but this felt summery and cheeky, all while playing cutes in Victorian lace.

Wore this out to drinks in Covent Gardens, for sneaky mojitos with one slammin' Polish miss, and one of the best things to come out of New Zealand in like, ever. London, I'm excited.

Necklace: From Santorini (my one purchase there)

Sapphire Eyes and Uncracked Heart

Cheesy Paris watch that I blatantly love, amongst the accessories I brought over.
Oscar Wilde, my companion at airports and late night sleeplessness. I've read The Happy Prince like a million times.
The shoes that made the final cut: vintage booties, Steve Madden platforms, Sam Edelman Zoe boots, Tony Bianco, Bebe platforms. I can't believe I managed to narrow down my wardrobe into a suitcase. It's making me pine for all the clothes I left behind and won't get a chance to blog about.
Relishing the last of my Greek Islands tan, thrifted midriff top (bring back the ninetieeeeees), headscarf from Cambodia. Not sure whether to chop my hair again or attempt to grow it for a bit. In the meantime, headscarves are my friend.

I feel like I'm easing back into blogging a little. It's amazing how quickly you can feel out of the loop after barely touching a computer for a few weeks. Makes me feel like I'm back at square one, and not knowing what I'm doing, why I'm doing it, and lacking the courage to just do it anyway.

the green light says stop, a second

I feel a little bit like this at the moment... like the first air balloon that ever took off. Just without the company of a maroon-filled friend.
Set free and slightly alone. Full of trepidation, and the possibility of iminent exhileration if this whole bluff works out.
Tiny and doll-like. Cane and harness, hoping the lacquer survives the glare of the hemisphere. Azure blue and air so clean it hurts.
Wanting to write and cry and make decisions and sit still and find out and stay in blissful ignorance. And dance and laugh and drink wine and smell flowers and lie in a dark room and wait.

I am clearly too busy lying on beaches, dancing on bars, writing about dreams, listening to favourite songs, and glorying in the blue-goldness of the Greek Islands to blog.
Reminds me of the cover of Virginia Woolf's 'To The Lighthouse'. Never mind the crap state of my nails.
So I will go and chill out here at the pool at our villa instead...

It's my last few days in Sydney, and I'm soaking up sun and family and friends like a droughtsponge in a rainforest.

Went shopping with one of my gorgeous sisters in Paddington.

Meandering through expensive boutiques, and eventually following a chalked sign...

to a cee-uute vintage shop. I love Sydney.

There's so much I've been meaning to write...in some ways I'm storing it all up for the plane, just so I have something to do - I can write it all out rather than indulging in an orgy of tears or something.

In the meantime, I'm planning farewell parties, and hanging out with my siblings watching classic Disney movies, and singing out loud.
